Short version: Your data stays on your device. We don't have a central database of users. We never sell or share your financial information. Oz conversations are processed by Anthropic's AI and then discarded — we don't store them.

Brass is a free financial habits platform for young people in West Yorkshire, built and operated by Mediahubink.
Brass is a community initiative of The Think Movement CIC, a Community Interest Company based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, committed to using technology to solve local challenges.

2. What Data We Collect
Data you provide during onboarding
- ●Your first name
- ●Your postcode (district prefix only, e.g. "WF1" — not your full address)
- ●Your savings goal and approximate amount already saved
Data generated through use of the app
- ●Challenges joined and completed
- ●XP points and streak progress
- ●Income amounts logged via Quick Log (category and optional note only)
- ●Conversations with Oz, our AI money coach
What we do NOT collect
- ●We do not collect your full address, date of birth, or any financial account details
- ●We do not collect payment card information
- ●We do not collect government-issued identification
- ●We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels
3. How We Store Your Data
All personal data you provide in Brass is stored locally on your own device using your browser's localStorage. This means:
- ●Your data does not leave your device under normal use
- ●We do not operate a central user database
- ●If you clear your browser data or use a different device, your Brass data will not be present
- ●Your data is not backed up to a server by default
Where you choose to use Oz, the AI money coach, your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. These messages are processed in accordance with Anthropic's privacy policy. We do not store your Oz conversation history on any server.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- ●Personalise your Brass experience (e.g. addressing you by name, showing progress toward your goal)
- ●Calculate your XP, streak, and challenge progress
- ●Provide relevant local rewards and challenges based on your postcode district
- ●Deliver responses from Oz, the AI money coach
Where Brass operates as part of the Wakefield Council Multiply pilot, anonymised and aggregated programme data (e.g. number of WF postcode users, module completion rates) may be shared with Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of pilot reporting. No individually identifiable data is shared.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- ●Consent — you provide your name, postcode, and goal voluntarily at onboarding
- ●Legitimate interests — to operate and improve the Brass platform for young people in West Yorkshire
- ●Public task — where data is processed as part of the Multiply financial capability pilot funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund
6. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Limited data sharing occurs only in the following circumstances:
- ●Anthropic (AI processing) — message content from Oz conversations is processed by Anthropic's API to generate responses. See anthropic.com/privacy.
- ●Wakefield Council / WYCA — anonymised, aggregated pilot data only. No individual data.
- ●Legal obligation — if required by law or court order.
7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the right to:

- ●Erasure — request deletion of your data. For locally stored data, clear your browser localStorage. For any server-held pilot data, contact us at joash@mediahubink.com.
- ●Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- ●Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
- ●Portability — request your data in a portable format
- ●Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests

8. Data Retention
Data stored in your browser's localStorage persists until you clear it or uninstall your browser. We do not control this retention period — you can delete your data at any time via your browser settings.
Anonymised pilot data shared with Wakefield Council is retained in accordance with their data retention policies.
9. Children and Young People
Brass is designed for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a person under 16 has used Brass and provided personal data, please contact us at joash@mediahubink.com so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document will reflect any changes. Continued use of Brass after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
